This week’s activities and learning opportunities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage, and responding to requests and observations from last week, will include the following:

ACTIVITIES

Indoors - collage parrots, flamingos and chameleons, rainforest sounds (CD, musical instruments), Chinese food

Outdoors – play lodge as ‘rainforest cafe’ including tastes and smells e.g. exotic juice, musical instruments

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Creativity

Begin to be interested in and describe the textures of things

Explore colour and begin to differentiate colour

Choose particular colours to use for a purpose

Show an interest in the way musical instruments sound

Explore the different sounds of instruments

Capture experiences and responses with music and materials

Make comparisons and create new connections

Respond in a variety of ways to what they see, hear, smell, taste, touch and feel

Indoors – Chinese dragons, Chinese food, music and dance – rainforest sounds and Chinese music, multi-cultural musical instruments, Chinese number sheets and colouring sheets

Outdoors – ‘Rainforest cafe’, CDs (rainforest sounds and Chinese music), natural world pictures and Chinese New Year pictures
